Encrypt your android 5.0 Lollipop device to increase security and secure data.

Android 5.0 Lollipop has already been released recently and many new devices are coming with upgraded android version 5.0 Lollipop. Brand new android devices which are coming with already android version 5.0 Lollipop have already encrypted feature enabled by default. But if you have upgraded your device with android version 5.0 Lollipop, you might not have the feature enabled in your device.

There are three ways that you can enable encryption feature.

During upgrading device.

After upgrade completed.

Factory Reset.

During updating your device to android version 5.0 Lollipop it will might ask to enable the encryption feature. If not, then you can enable it manually once your device upgraded successfully to android version 5.0 Lollipop by launching the Settings->Security page and tapping on Encrypt phone. While encrypting it could ask you to enter the pin so that every time you start your phone you need to provide the pin to decrypt the data.

Once you tap on the option “Encrypt phone” you need to follow few steps to complete the process.

Device encryption can take little long time (around an hour), so make sure your phone is connected with charger or your phone should be charged enough to complete the process. Encryption time duration depends on encryption of data and how much data you have to encrypt. If you have more data stored then might it could take more than one hour. While encrypting your data there is no any interface that could show that how long it will take. So you have to keep patient while encrypting.

There is another way as well that you can encrypt your device and that is called factory reset. But be very careful before going for this option because once you do the factory reset, it will delete all you data and you will never be able to recover it.

To do the factory reset first you upgrade your device to android version 5.0 Lollipop. Once it gets updated successfully you need to go to Settings page and then tap on Backup & Reset and then finally tap on Factory data reset. Follow the instruction and complete the process. During the factory reset process your device will encrypt automatically. This process also will take little long time so just wait for factory reset to complete.

Once encryption done, your data in device is fully safe and no one other than you can access your data even your phone gets stolen or lost.
